YouTube and the COPPA COP OUT

Hi gang,

As you know due to COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) a lot of kid friendly Adult Action figure collector content creators have basically sacrificed to the FTC by YouTube including my channel that I had just started. We'll to put it plainly I'm pissed off at YouTube and I'm sure many new and also established YouTuber's that make kid friendly content (but not necessarily just for kids) will undoubtedly be flagged as for kids if not marked "FOR KIDS" and subsequently fined around $42,000 per video. I don't know about some of the millionaire channels but I being that I just started out, I'm not willing to take that risk. I don't even have 10 subs at the moment. If you're reading this because you we're looking for content on my channel thank you for following the link to this blog, and if you're just someone that happened on to this blog because you were curious about what COPPA is really doing thank you for wanting to educate yourself regarding this witch hunt. Let's break it down.

1. COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act passed 2009)

THE GOOD: Sounds great right? Protect kids from data I'm on board.
THE BAD: YouTube allowing kids to set up accounts as users knowing very well about COPPA way back when and had no filter for it.
THE REALLY BAD: Parents whom innocently enough set up YouTube accounts for kids so they can make their own content so that they could possibly be the next RYAN'S Toys Review. Also innocent enough who doesn't want kids to make money? We that would be the FTC because data is data and if that data is a kid approx. the age of 12 or under (depending on country) data well your screwed.

2. What is flagged Kid content:

THE GOOD: You mark your videos KIDS because you review, Toys, Video, Games, Pop Culture, anything A KID MIGHT LIKE. OK you followed the rules youre safe from litigation.
THE BAD: You loose comments, Tags, End Screens, Likes, and Save for later.
THE REALLY BAD: YOU LOOSE MONETIZATION.
THE AWFUL: You channel is DOA, can't grow, can't get views.
ENDGAME: YOUTUBE IS DEAD.

3. Let's think about deep this can go.

Cat Videos RIP
Dog Videos RIP
Any kind of Kid Friendly Instructions and How To's i.e. Cooking, Science, Drawing, Painting, heck Toy Making. RIP.

FTC = Fuck The Content.

I don't want to be DOOM and GLOOM but I'm a realist. This is just the first attack the obvious ones to get the $$ from well I think YouTube settled for $170 million rather than going to bat on the behalf of creators (Dick move YouTube) but here is whats next. Since For Kids is so vague Toy Reviews aside, what if your KID is watching guitar lessons, cooking lessons, drawing, science, how to's to a general audience. On YouTube what happens then YOUTUBE says hire a Lawyer (HAHAHA) at this point it's up to the FTC to flag what they deem KID CONTENT is, at this point the only obvious non KID CONTENT YouTube can publish that's a clear line between what a kid can and can not watch is basically PORN. YouTube will have to just be another PORN site so that kids a just plain not allowed on YouTube. There are so many layers and frustrations here I'm just over it. So my point is this. I love my action figure hobby and I love sharing it with what little eyes have watched my channel, so I hope to maybe just do this blog and monetize it through this medium until COPPA hits this platform also.
